As the previous dead week comes to an end, we are once again introduced to an event recap, “A Revolutionary Ivan Kupala”. This recap also comes with 2 returning student banners, Cherino and Marina. In this article, we will be briefly going over Cherino’s use case and whether she is worth pulling for.
Overview
Cherino is a Permanent 3* Piercing Striker student who can generally be used in a few ways. However, she is most commonly brought into the team as an AoE damage dealer or a Cost Recovery support. If you decide to raise her up to Unique Equipment 40, her damage gets a decent boost with a flat increase to her ATK stat.
Cherino’s skill set is a mixed bag of tools that can be used in several ways. As mentioned previously, she is most commonly used as an AoE damage dealer to help clear out enemies with Heavy armor. In addition to this, she can also be used as a general support with her Sub Skill increasing Cost Recovery. She can also be used as a tank in certain raids, such as Binah, due to her good armor matchup and overall decent stat spread. Lastly, it is worth noting that Cherino CAN apply Focused Assault and a Crit DMG RES debuff onto enemies with her Basic Skill. Unfortunately, this does not have a good uptime, and you are unable to control the targeting of this skill as it always hits the enemy with the highest ATK.

Now that we know what Cherino provides to the team, is she worth pulling for?
First and foremost, if Cherino is your favorite student, then don't let this guide stop you from pulling her. As at the end of the day it is your game and account.
When considering whether to pull for Cherino, it can be quite difficult to skip her banner if you do not have her. The main reason why you would want to consider pulling for her is if your roster lacks a strong AoE Piercing damage dealer and want a student who can cover multiple roles. In addition to this, if you are unable to borrow her for Chesed due to needing another student to clear the raid, you may want to consider pulling for this banner.
However, an argument can be made to skip her banner if you have another strong Piercing AoE damage dealer or plan to borrow a Cherino. Other reasons to skip her banner would save up for future students to prepare for a future raid “Gregorius” such as S.Miyako, S.Saki, or Minori.
Cherino is actually used for cost recovery more than an AOE piercing student. She’s insanely strong at UE 50 when it comes to insane Chesed. The only other viable piercing AOE student is Nonomi. Nonomi is an event only student. In non JP servers goes, she isn’t farmable as of now. There’s Momoi, but her area is limited. Just my 2 cents.
